Brought to you by House of Music, this performance will feature 3 Chinese musical instruments of your schools’ choice!

 

The performance will showcase the various playing techniques of the chosen Chinese instruments as well as the introduction to the history and background knowledge of them. Repertoires for the performance will vary from traditional classical music, to modern pieces such as pop songs as we believe that this will pique the interest of students and heighten their appreciation to Chinese Music.

 

House of Music will be able to provide suitable recommendations such as Dizi, Erhu, Yangqin etc. for the music instrumental choice. Depending on the various customisation of the programme, a fourth musician – accompaniment may be paired to enhance the overall performance.

Students will discover and develop a greater awareness of Chinese music through an exploration of traditional Chinese instruments, their distinctive sounds, playing techniques and musical expressions. The session also introduces students to classical Chinese instrumental pieces alongside modern music, encouraging them to appreciate the diversity of Chinese music and how traditional sounds can be presented in contemporary ways.
